Kizz Daniel speaks on long music break, reveals family tragedy

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has explained why he took a break from music this year.

The singer said his decision was linked to the death of his mother, who passed away earlier this year.

Kizz Daniel made this known while responding to a fan on X on Friday.

The fan, @VicroyDominion1, had suggested that the singer might have been away because he was working on a new album.

However, Kizz Daniel explained that his break had nothing to do with a new music project.

He said he needed to pause because of the loss of his mother.

“I paused for my Mom, not an album. Lost her this year, but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family. Sorry I came late this year,” he said.

The singer’s comments come after he stayed relatively quiet on the music scene for much of the year.

Kizz Daniel has continued to release music and perform internationally in recent years, but his activities have been more limited this year following the loss in his family.

The singer had previously spoken about another family loss involving his wife. In 2025, he revealed that his wife had lost her mother in 2024.

Despite the difficult period, Kizz Daniel said he is determined to continue moving forward and support the rest of his family.
