Khamenei adviser says US strikes will not alter Iran’s position

A senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader has sharply criticised US President Donald Trump following recent American strikes on Iranian targets, warning that military action would not strengthen Washington’s position in ongoing negotiations.

Mohsen Rezaei, a member of Iran’s Expediency Discernment Council and an adviser to the Supreme Leader, made the remarks in a post on X on Thursday.

“The reckless US president imagines that bombs can get him out of the quagmire he created, but Iranian missiles will sink him even deeper into it,” Rezaei wrote.

His comments came amid continued tensions between Tehran and Washington following recent military exchanges and ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the conflict.

Rezaei also argued that the United States faces a choice between accepting Iran’s terms in negotiations or risking further damage to its international standing.

“Washington must choose between accepting Iran’s conditions or losing what little credibility it has left in the world,” he said.

The remarks reflect the increasingly confrontational rhetoric exchanged by officials on both sides despite continuing diplomatic contacts intended to secure a broader agreement and prevent a further escalation of hostilities.

Iranian officials have repeatedly maintained that military pressure will not force Tehran to alter its negotiating position, while US officials have argued that continued pressure is necessary to secure what Washington describes as a durable agreement.
