Kaduna APC Stakeholders Endorse Shehu Sani for 2027 Senate Race

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna Central Senatorial District, including seven local government chairmen, have endorsed former senator Shehu Sani as their preferred candidate for the 2027 Senate election.The endorsement was announced during a meeting of party leaders and stakeholders in Kaduna on Wednesday.

Kaduna State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Sadiq Mamman Lagos, said the decision reflected the position of party stakeholders across the senatorial district. According to him, the endorsement does not replace the party’s primary election process but represents support for a candidate considered politically experienced and electable.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, said collaboration between Governor Uba Sani and Shehu Sani could strengthen development efforts in the state if the former lawmaker returns to the Senate. The local government chairmen from Chikun, Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Igabi, Birnin Gwari, Ikara, and Kajuru also expressed support for Sani, citing his political experience and pro-democracy activism.

Responding, Shehu Sani thanked the stakeholders for the endorsement, describing it as both an honour and a responsibility. He said the endorsement does not prevent other party members from contesting the APC primaries.“Any party member who wishes to contest is free to do so,” he said. Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the Senate from 2015 to 2019, expressed confidence about his chances in the 2027 election.
