JUST IN: Femi Falana, Falz Lead Democracy Day Protests in Lagos [VIDEO]
Human rights lawyer Femi Falana and musician-activist Falz are leading a group of demonstrators in protests across Lagos to mark Nigeria’s 2026 Democracy Day.
The protests are part of a nationwide action organized against worsening national insecurity, severe economic hardship, and a sharp drop in the standard of living.
Speaking on the security situation, Falz criticized the attacks on educational institutions, questioning why schools remain open while students continue to face the threat of abduction.
The protesters include people from trade unions, youth groups, social movements, and faith-based organizations. The coalition chose to hold the demonstration on June 12, a date fixed to honor Chief M.K.O. Abiola, the presumed winner of the annulled 1993 presidential election.
