Jigawa Names Two Major Roads After President Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu

The Jigawa State Government has named two newly completed roads after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu as part of activities marking the inauguration of key infrastructure projects across the state.

One of the roads, the newly commissioned Gandun Sarki Road, was named in honour of Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who personally inaugurated the project during her official visit to the state.

The state government also named another major road the Hadejia–Garun Gabas–Dolan Road after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in recognition of his administration.

The road projects form part of the Jigawa State Government’s broader efforts to improve transportation infrastructure, stimulate economic activities, and strengthen connectivity across the rapidly developing Hadejia axis.

Mrs. Tinubu visited Jigawa State on Monday, June 29, 2026, to commission several infrastructure, education, and healthcare projects aimed at improving the welfare of residents and advancing the state’s development agenda.

During the visit to Hadejia, the First Lady inaugurated the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Clinic and Dialysis Centre, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road (Hadejia–Garun Gabas–Dolan), and the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Academy.

She arrived at Dutse International Airport at about 11:00 a.m. before proceeding to Hadejia to perform the commissioning ceremonies.

The visit also featured the launch of the North-West chapter of the National Community Food Bank Programme, an initiative designed to improve food security by increasing access to nutritious food for vulnerable households across the region.

The programme was officially launched at the Government House Conference Hall in Dutse.

The event attracted the governors of all seven North-West states, including Umar Namadi, Uba Sani, Abba Kabir Yusuf, Dikko Umaru Radda, Nasir Idris, Ahmad Aliyu and Dauda Lawal.

The projects commissioned during the visit are expected to improve healthcare delivery, expand educational opportunities, enhance transportation, and support socio-economic development across Jigawa State.
