‎The former actor, who recently took on a new political role, said his focus is now on discussing candidates he believes are serious contenders for the presidency rather than individuals he considers less influential in the race.

‎His comments came shortly after his appointment as spokesman to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who is expected to contest the 2027 presidential election under the ADC platform, the appointment was announced on Thursday and has drawn attention from political observers as parties continue to position themselves ahead of the next general election.

‎During the television interview, Okonkwo avoided engaging in a detailed discussion about Obi, instead, he argued that the former Labour Party presidential candidate no longer occupies a central place in the political conversation leading up to 2027, he suggested that attention should be directed toward politicians with stronger prospects in the upcoming contest.

‎“I have just been appointed the spokesperson of Atiku Abubakar, so Obi is inconsequential in whatever he is doing in his life. May we proceed to talk about more important issues?” he said.
