Is Iran Taking War Underwater With ‘Mine-Carrying Dolphins’ Strategy In Hormuz?
Iran is reportedly considering unconventional military options, including the use of dolphins equipped with mines, to target US warships in the Strait of Hormuz amid a prolonged American blockade that has severely impacted its economy. According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, hardline factions within Iran increasingly view the US move to block its oil exports as an act of war, despite an ongoing but fragile ceasefire. Officials cited in the report suggested that Tehran could deploy previously unused tactics, including mine-carrying dolphins and submarines, to escalate pressure in the region.
The report also noted that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has threatened to disrupt key communication infrastructure, including undersea cables passing through the strait, an action that could significantly impact global internet connectivity.
Analysts, acccording to the report, say the blockade is no longer seen in Tehran as an alternative to war, but rather as another form of it. “The blockade is increasingly viewed not as a substitute for war, but as a different manifestation of it,” said Hamidreza Azizi, a Middle East expert at a Berlin-based think tank, warning that Iranian leadership may begin to view renewed conflict as less costly than enduring prolonged economic pressure.

Trump was briefed by United States Central Command (CENTCOM) on fresh military options againstIran, according to a report by Axios. Two US officials told the outlet that the 45-minute briefing was led by CENTCOM Commander Brad Cooper along with the Chairperson of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The developments come as The Jerusalem Post reported that the US dispatched nearly 6,500 tonnes of munitions and military equipment to Israel within just 24 hours, signalling a possible escalation. According to Israel’s Defence Ministry, the shipment arrived through two cargo ships and multiple aircraft in a coordinated logistics operation. The vessels docked at Port of Ashdod and Port of Haifa.
The consignment included thousands of air and ground munitions, military trucks, Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs), and other defence equipment. These were later transported via hundreds of trucks to military bases across the country.
