Insecurity may worsen in November, affect Tinubu’s second-term bid – Primate Ayodele

The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has warned that worsening insecurity could pose a major challenge to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid as the 2027 general elections draw closer.

Ayodele, in a statement issued by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, said he expects security concerns to become more pronounced between November and December, potentially triggering public protests and disrupting political activities.

The cleric urged the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to tackle insecurity before it escalates and affects the 2027 electoral process.

According to him, the security situation could become a major issue for the Tinubu administration if adequate measures are not taken to address emerging threats.

“Security will be one of the things people will be complaining about. Security will be more tense by November/December, and this can discredit his government,” Ayodele said.

He warned that politicians could become targets of attacks during the election campaign if the security situation deteriorates.

“He must take care of it because insecurity will begin to cause several issues and in the process, politicians can be kidnapped, convoys can be attacked, and nobody will be saved,” he added.

Ayodele acknowledged the efforts of security personnel in tackling insecurity but argued that more needed to be done to address the underlying challenges.

“The security operatives are trying, but they haven’t gone deep; they are only scratching the surface,” he said.

The cleric further warned that the government could face security challenges that may emerge unexpectedly, potentially affecting political campaigns in some parts of the country.

“It can cause President Tinubu to be surprised by what he doesn’t know and what he doesn’t see coming. It can even stop people from campaigning,” he said.

Ayodele’s warning comes as political parties and politicians begin preparations for the 2027 general elections, with security expected to remain a major consideration as campaign activities intensify.

He urged the security agencies to take proactive measures to prevent threats from escalating and ensure that politicians, political supporters and members of the public can participate safely in the electoral process.
