INEC uploads 85.32% of Ekiti Governorship Election results on IReV

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded 85.32 per cent of polling unit results from Saturday’s Ekiti State governorship election to its Result Viewing (IReV) portal, as collation of votes continues across the state.

Data obtained from the IReV portal showed that as of 7:12 p.m. on Saturday, a total of 2,086 results had been uploaded out of the expected 2,445 polling unit results across the state’s 16 local government areas.

The development marks a significant milestone in the electoral process, providing political parties, election observers and members of the public with real-time access to polling unit results as they are transmitted from the field.

A breakdown of the uploads indicated substantial progress in most local government areas. Ado-Ekiti Local Government Area, which has the highest number of polling units in the state, recorded 318 uploaded results out of 344 expected polling units.

Ekiti South West also posted a strong performance with 184 of its 188 polling unit results already available on the portal, while Oye uploaded 175 out of 191 expected results.

Similarly, Ekiti West recorded 168 uploads from 184 polling units, Ido/Osi uploaded 134 out of 144, and Ikere transmitted 114 of its 125 polling unit results.

Other local governments with high upload rates included Efon, where 110 of 119 polling unit results had been uploaded; Gbonyin, with 104 out of 115; and Ise/Orun, which transmitted 104 of its 114 results.

Moba uploaded 98 of its 116 polling unit results, while Irepodun/Ifelodun recorded 136 uploads from 174 polling units. Ilejemeje posted 85 uploaded results out of 91 expected polling units, and Emure transmitted 78 of its 94 results.

In Ikole Local Government Area, 150 of the expected 189 polling unit results had been uploaded, while Ijero recorded 117 uploads from 145 polling units.

Ekiti East appeared to be the least advanced in terms of result transmission, with only 42 results uploaded from its 112 polling units as of the latest update.

The steady upload of results is expected to enhance transparency and public confidence in the electoral process, allowing stakeholders to independently track polling unit outcomes before the final declaration of results by INEC.

The commission had earlier assured voters and political parties of its commitment to a transparent, credible and technology-driven election, with the IReV portal serving as a key component of its result management process.
