In 2014, We Had At Least 14 LG Under Boko Haram Where They Established Their Own Flag-Oladehinde

Public Affairs Analyst and All Progressives Congress chieftain, Adekunle Oladehinde, has defended the ruling party against claims that insecurity, banditry, kidnapping and terrorism began under its administration, arguing that the challenges predate the APC government.

Oladehinde made the remarks during an interview on News Central TV, on Saturday, 6 June, 2026, while responding to criticisms of the APC’s handling of security issues since taking office in 2015.

According to him, the security crisis confronting Nigeria was already severe before the APC assumed power, citing the territorial control once exercised by Boko Haram in parts of the North-East during the final years of the previous administration.

“In 2014, we had at least 14 local government under Boko Haram where they established their flag. Why are we deceiving ourselves,” Oladehinde said.

The APC chieftain maintained that discussions about insecurity should be grounded in historical facts rather than political rhetoric. He argued that attributing the emergence of banditry, kidnapping and terrorism solely to the APC government ignores the realities that existed before the party came into office.

Oladehinde noted that Boko Haram insurgents had gained significant influence in parts of the country before 2015, with several local government areas reportedly falling under the group’s control at the height of the insurgency.
