Igboho launches Iru Ekun, says members to Get govt training

Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has launched the Ogun State chapter of his security outfit, known as the Iru Ekun Security Network.

Igboho launched the group on Wednesday and said the Federal Government would decide who would train its members, while the Ogun State Government would determine where they would be deployed.

He said, “The federal government will decide who will come and train us. The governor’s office tells us where they will place us.”

He added that after completing their training, members would be given identification cards at the local government level.

Igboho said the Ogun State Government had promised to support the group. He also said the government would decide the monthly allowance to be paid to members to help them take care of their families.

He urged members of the security outfit to remain disciplined and avoid reckless behaviour.

“Do not engage in reckless behaviour or ruin things just because they have trained you and you have an ID card,” he warned.

Igboho said the long-term plan was to ensure that members of the security network across the South-West receive official identification cards. He said this would allow them to operate legally, support their families and help maintain security.

He compared the group to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, saying the civil defence organisation started on a small scale before becoming a recognised federal security agency.

The Ogun launch came about a month after Igboho introduced the Iru Ekun Security Network in Ilorin, Kwara State.

During the Kwara launch, he said the group would help reclaim forests from bandits and prevent criminals from using the forests as hideouts.
