If Governors Guarantee Victory Why Hunt Obi And Harass ADC All Over The Place Every Day -Abdullahi

Bolaji Abdullahi, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has questioned the confidence of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, arguing that if the party is certain its governors can deliver victory, there should be no need to target opposition figures or parties.

Speaking during an interview on the SYMFONI Podcast, Abdullahi claimed that the APC’s numerical advantage in terms of governors does not necessarily translate into electoral strength. According to him, many governors within the ruling party are privately dissatisfied after candidates were allegedly imposed on them during the party’s internal processes.

He argued that this dissatisfaction has weakened the unity of the APC despite its large number of state governors. In his view, governors who feel sidelined in the party’s decision-making process may not be fully committed to campaigning for the party’s presidential candidate during the next election.

Abdullahi further alleged that the APC initially created challenges for opposition parties through its political strategies but has now become affected by similar internal problems.

Questioning the ruling party’s actions, he said, “If the governors will guarantee them victory, why are they still hunting opposition? Why are they chasing Peter Obi all over the place? Why are they harassing ADC all over the place? It’s because they know that even when the time comes, look at the mess they have found themselves, the trap they set for us as opposition parties, they have fallen into it themselves.”

According to Abdullahi, the APC’s actions suggest that the party is not as confident about its electoral prospects as it publicly portrays. He argued that if the support of governors alone were enough to secure victory, there would be little reason to focus attention on opposition parties or prominent political figures.

The former Minister of Youth and Sports Development maintained that the opposition remains a significant force despite the challenges it has encountered in recent months. He suggested that attempts to weaken opposition parties indicate that they continue to pose a serious political challenge ahead of the next general elections.

Abdullahi also expressed the view that internal disagreements within the APC could affect the party’s performance if they are not properly addressed.
