Idowu Santana Band thrills UK audiences, unveils new album ‘Roll Up’
The Idowu Santana Band has strengthened its growing international reputation following a successful tour of the United Kingdom, where the group delivered electrifying performances across Birmingham, Manchester and London before unveiling its latest album, Roll Up.
Led by bandleader and creative director Ojo Idowu Gbenga, popularly known as Idowu Santana, the ensemble has earned recognition for its exceptional musicianship, disciplined performances and remarkable on-stage chemistry. Rather than relying solely on the lead vocalist, the band’s strength lies in the seamless collaboration of its members, each contributing to a rich and distinctive musical experience.
Every performance reflects a shared understanding of rhythm, melody, and timing, with each instrumentalist playing a vital role in creating the band’s signature sound.
The ensemble features Odewale Adewuyi Israel on the talking drum, whose energetic performances add a vibrant traditional flavour, while Adebayo Joshua Shola anchors the rhythm section as the jazz drummer. Adebisi Temitope Mathew complements the group’s sound with his tenor vocals.
On keyboards is Bassey Roland Edet, while Ating Louis Louis provides captivating lead guitar melodies alongside bassist Ojo Taiwo Adeniyi. The band’s brass section is led by saxophonist Ating Emanuel Bassey, supported by bass backup vocalist Adams Thompson Omoredo. Completing the vocal ensemble are Aderibigbe Oluwayemisi Esther and Iwelu Mary Nkechi, whose harmonies add depth and balance to the group’s performances.
Idowu Santana’s ability to coordinate the band’s creative direction while giving every member the freedom to express their individual talents has resulted in performances that are both technically polished and emotionally engaging. Their confident stage presence, seamless transitions and unified execution reflect years of dedication, rehearsal and a shared commitment to musical excellence.
That commitment was evident throughout the band’s UK tour, where audiences in Birmingham, Manchester and London responded enthusiastically to performances that showcased the group’s musical versatility, energetic stagecraft and strong connection with fans. The successful outing further reinforced the band’s growing profile on the international music scene and demonstrated the universal appeal of its sound.
The UK tour concluded with the official launch of the band’s latest album, Roll Up. The event attracted several respected UK-based Nigerian entertainers and cultural figures, including Sunny Melody, Wonder Boy Solek, Mr. Manna Ekundayo and other notable personalities from the entertainment industry.
Beyond its live performances, the Idowu Santana Band continues to build an impressive catalogue of music. The group has previously released acclaimed projects including Level Up, Success Story, Noble Vibes and Celebration, all of which reflect its commitment to quality musicianship and cultural expression.
A defining feature of the band is the strong sense of unity among its members. Rather than competing for individual recognition, each musician understands the importance of supporting the collective performance, creating a balanced musical experience in which every instrument and voice complements the other.
From the rhythm section that provides a solid musical foundation to the melodic arrangements that enrich each performance, the band’s cohesion remains one of its greatest strengths. Guided by Idowu Santana’s creative leadership, the ensemble continues to demonstrate that collaboration, discipline and shared excellence are the hallmarks of lasting musical success.
