I Was A Trained Jihadist; An American Imam Hugged Me With Tears Over People Misusing Islam -El-Buba

Prophet Isa El-Buba has explained why he believes Americans and the international community care about what is happening in Nigeria after he attended the International Religious Freedom Summit in the United States. He said that basically it comes down to humanity, and one of the most touching moments was when an American Muslim imam came to him with tears in his eyes and hugged him.

El-Buba said the American imam was apologising for the actions of people who are using the religion of Islam to carry out terrible atrocities against innocent lives in northern Nigeria. He explained that another imam from the Middle East also came to him and said they are standing with Nigeria and do not like what they are seeing. He said it was a beautiful experience at the summit where people of different faiths came together around the issue of religious freedom.

El-Buba added that one of the key things discussed at the summit was the need to see Sharia law in northern Nigeria abolished because it has empowered jihadists to do what they are doing. He explained that when Sharia was not in place in the old days, northern Nigeria was one of the best places anyone could ever be, and the northern Muslim was a glorious, beautiful soul who cared and loved. He said the issue of killing was a strange thing in those days in northern Nigeria, but when people started coming with jihadist ideology, everything changed.

El-Buba revealed that he himself was once a trained Islamic jihadist, and he warned the federal government of Nigeria in those days to mark certain areas where the ideology was growing because the only way to deal with ideology is to uproot it. He said these issues were tabled before the United States Congress and the summit, and the summit is taking it to higher levels.

Prophet Isa El-Buba said: “Basically it’s humanity. One of the things I saw there was humanity, people of different faiths. The Muslim imams, I mean one of the Muslim imams came to me and hugged me with tears in his eyes, apologising over the act of people using the religion of Islam to carry out this terrible atrocity against innocent lives in northern Nigeria. He’s an American imam. The other one from the Middle East came to me and said we are standing with you, we don’t like what we are seeing. It was a beautiful experience and summit. One of the things that was brought up was to see to it that this issue of Sharia law in northern Nigeria will be abolished because it has empowered the jihadists to do what they are doing.
