Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, a House of Representatives aspirant for Nnewi North and Nnewi South under the NDC, Obunike Ohaegbu, has denied claims that the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was involved in an alleged demand for N10 million from aspirants.

Ohaegbu made the clarification while responding to allegations raised by a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kenneth Okonkwo, who said that the NDC presidential candidate was running what he described as a “criminal enterprise,” arguing that support for the party’s flag bearer amounted to support for such activities.

During the interview, the presenter referenced Okonkwo’s remarks, stating that the ADC chieftain had accused the NDC presidential candidate of operating a criminal enterprise and had cited Ohaegbu’s previous message as evidence to support the allegation.
