“I never knew my uncle played a visa lottery for me” – Sandra Benede recounts how she moved to America
Popular influencer and TikToker Sandra Benede has shared how a phone call from her uncle unexpectedly changed her life after she discovered she had won the US Diversity Visa Lottery.
Speaking in a video, Sandra revealed that her uncle, who lives in the United States, secretly entered her for the lottery without informing her.
According to her, she only found out years later while studying at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) after reaching out to her uncle for financial support to pursue her dream of becoming an actress.
“I was sleeping when I got a phone call from America. It was my uncle, my dad’s younger brother. I thought he was calling because I had written him a proposal, asking him to support my movie career,” she said.
Sandra explained that before leaving Nigeria years earlier, her uncle had requested her passport details but never told the family he intended to use them to register her for the US Diversity Visa Lottery.
She recalled being confused when her uncle asked her to sing her favourite gospel song during the phone call before finally breaking the life-changing news.
“He said, ‘Do you have a favourite song?’ I sang I Can See Everything Turning Around in My Favour. Then he said, ‘Indeed, God has turned your story around. You won a visa lottery. That means you’re coming to America.’ I was so excited and happy,” she added.
Sandra Benede said the unexpected lottery win eventually led to her relocation to the United States, where she now lives.
