Temitope Solaja has shared her experience of moving to the United States in 2019, a move she made without any friends or family in the country. She described the first few years as “not something easy at all” as she navigated a new life on her own.

According to a video from the Talk to B show, she initially lived in Houston before moving to Indianapolis, where she eventually met a kind woman who became a mother figure to her. This woman would bring her food and groceries, providing much-needed support as she settled in and worked on getting her papers in order.

Temitope Solaja said, “I moved to the States around 2019, so it was before COVID. I will not lie to you, because it is where I do not have friends, I do not have family. It’s somewhere that I don’t have anybody, so it was not something easy at all.
