I Met My Husband In Oyo & He Liked Me Partly Because I’m An Ijesha Lady, I Got Married 1964 -Fafowora

Mrs Abigail Fafowora, a retired teacher who later became a businesswoman, has shared how she met her husband more than sixty years ago.

In an interview with PUNCH, Mrs Abigail explained that she was working as a teacher in Oyo State in the early 1960s. She said her husband was employed in an organisation located close to the school where she taught. She noted that their paths crossed because of this proximity, and that was how their relationship began.

She recalled that her husband admired her cultural background and was drawn to her partly because she is from Ijesha. According to her, their connection grew stronger, and in 1964 they got married.
