I Became A Lion Against Makinde When He Messed Up; We’ll Work Against Him In The Next Election -Fayose

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has declared that he will oppose Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde in future elections, citing what he described as unfair treatment within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Fayose said his relationship with Makinde deteriorated after the Oyo governor allegedly weakened his political influence and structure within the party in the South-West region.

According to Fayose, Makinde’s actions left him feeling sidelined and disrespected despite his status as a former governor and long-standing member of the PDP. He argued that political leaders should treat one another with fairness and mutual respect, regardless of their positions.

The former governor said he became determined to challenge Makinde politically after what he viewed as efforts to undermine him within the party. He maintained that the dispute had grown into a serious political battle and insisted that he and his supporters would work against Makinde in the next election.

Fayose also stressed that political relationships should be guided by courtesy and recognition of each person’s contributions to the party. He accused Makinde of damaging the PDP’s structure in the South-West and taking actions that he believes contributed to divisions within the party.

In his words, “I became a lion against Seyi Makinde when he messed up. And I’m very happy. In the coming election, we will work against him. My name is Ayo Fayose.”
