Homes Completely Submerged As Floods Sweep Through Entire Wassa Akropong Township

Several homes in Wassa Akropong have been submerged following a heavy downpour that swept through the Western Region community, leaving residents counting significant losses and grappling with the aftermath of the flooding.

In an exclusive video shared by an affected resident, floodwaters are seen flowing freely through the interior of his home, inundating rooms and a kitchen as occupants struggled to contend with the rising water levels and the damage being inflicted on their belongings.

The footage offers a sobering glimpse into the scale of destruction visited upon households in the affected areas, with furniture, household items, and kitchen equipment seen submerged or displaced by the surging water.

Residents have expressed frustration over the recurring nature of flooding in the area, with many pointing to inadequate drainage infrastructure as a key factor in the severity of damage experienced each rainy season.

Wassa Akropong, a town in the Wassa Amenfi Central District of the Western Region, sits in an area that has historically been susceptible to flooding during periods of heavy rainfall, particularly as land use patterns and construction activities have altered natural drainage pathways over the years.

At the time of publication, there were no confirmed reports of casualties. However, the full extent of property damage across the affected parts of the community had not yet been assessed.

No official response had been received from the Wassa Amenfi Central District Assembly or any relevant emergency management authority.

Affected residents called on government agencies and humanitarian organisations to provide urgent relief to those who have lost property and been displaced by the flooding.
