“His Majesty cannot change his mind about polygamy. Me alone, I be like three women” — Olori Atuwatse III

Olori Atuwatse III, wife of the Olu of Warri, has spoken about her husband’s stance on polygamy, joking that she is more than enough for him.

Speaking in a BBC interview, the queen said the monarch had previously made it clear that he was not open to having multiple wives.

“His Majesty is not going to change his mind about polygamy. Maybe just settle down for a day. Me alone, one me, I’d be like three women. So, I’d do alright for him,” she said.

Olori Atuwatse III also spoke about her fashion choices and explained why she often covers her hair while carrying out her duties as queen.

She said her decision to cover her hair is not because she feels restricted in her dressing but out of respect for the office she occupies.

According to her, her crown and clothing are part of the reason she chooses to cover her hair when she is in “queen mode.”

The queen also revealed that she plays a role in  his Majesty’s fashion sense, jokingly saying, “I be my husband  stylist.”
