Hilarious moment Sky News anchor gets the hiccups during afternoon segment

It was only a minor hiccup.

Sky News’ Jayne Secker struggled to hold back hiccups during an unintentionally hilarious segment about NASA’s Artemis II Mission.

“The wait is over,” the veteran news anchor said during the Thursday 4 p.m. bulletin. “After more than half a century astronauts are finally on their way back [hiccup] to the moon.”

The 53-year-old then paused — trying to stay composed as she let out a slight chuckle — before carrying on with the story.

“Artemis II are currently orbiting the Earth, tonight their rocket is due to change direction and head towards its destination,” she said before another hiccup-suppressing break.

“Back down on the ground the launch was watched by thousands some of whom had travelled half way across [hiccup] the world!”

Secker, who is from England, has been working at Sky News for more than 20 years, according to her company bio. She has been appearing on Sky News Today — which runs Monday through Thursday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. — since 2014.

She was on the ground covering historic events spanning from the war in Ukraine to Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.

Secker also conducted a live TV interview in 2016 with British astronaut Tim Peake from the International Space Station.

But she came under fire in 2024 for making a dismissive comment about a young gamer who became the first person to beat Nintendo’s version of “Tetris.”

Secker sparked outrage when she told then-13-year-old Willis Gibson to “get some fresh air.”

“As a mother I would just say step away from the screen, go outside, get some fresh air. Beating Tetris is not a life goal,” she said with a smile on her face.
