Hayden Panettiere died after taking pill laced with fentanyl

A new report has revealed fresh details surrounding the death of Hollywood actress Hayden Panettiere, claiming that the actress took a pill allegedly laced with fentanyl shortly before she died.

The 36-year-old actress, best known for her role as Claire Bennet in the hit TV series Heroes and Juliette Barnes in Nashville, died last month in Greenville, South Carolina.

According to sources cited by TMZ, Panettiere allegedly took oxycodone that was contaminated with fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid linked to fatal overdoses.

The report claimed the actress obtained several prescription drugs from a long-time source in Los Angeles before travelling to South Carolina with her on-and-off boyfriend, Brian Hickerson.

Authorities are reportedly investigating the source of the pill as they attempt to determine who supplied the medication.

No arrest has been made in connection with Panettiere’s death.

According to reports, Hickerson found the actress unresponsive and administered Narcan, a medication used to reverse opioid overdose effects, before emergency responders arrived.

The involvement of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in the investigation follows reports that paramedics suspected an overdose when they responded to the emergency call.

Authorities had earlier confirmed that Panettiere’s autopsy was completed and that no signs of trauma were found on her body.

The actress had previously spoken openly about her struggles with addiction, alcohol and opioid dependence, including her difficult experiences with fame and personal challenges.

Months before her death, Panettiere released her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, where she shared details about her life, career and battles away from the spotlight.

Her death has renewed concerns over the dangers of counterfeit and contaminated prescription pills, especially those containing fentanyl, which has become a major cause of overdose deaths.
