Hamas official reveals more than 3,500 Israeli ceasefire violations in Gaza

Basem Naim, a member of Hamas’s political bureau, has accused Israel of committing thousands of violations of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, citing figures he said cover the period since the truce took effect.

In a statement posted on the social media platform X on Thursday, Naim said Israel had committed 3,503 violations of the ceasefire agreement. According to his figures, these incidents resulted in the deaths of 1,059 Palestinians and injuries to 3,429 others.

Naim also accused Israel of continuing to restrict the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip and limiting the movement of travellers through the Rafah border crossing.

According to the figures he released, the alleged violations included 1,359 shooting incidents, 1,546 shelling incidents, 145 ground incursions, 387 airstrikes, 66 arrests, and 387 house demolitions, averaging 13.3 incidents per day.

Separately, Gaza’s Ministry of Health reported that since the ceasefire came into effect, the death toll had reached 1,059, with 3,429 people injured and 788 bodies recovered.

The ministry added that the cumulative toll from the war in Gaza since 7th October 7 2023, had risen to 73,074 deaths and 173,537 injuries.

The figures cited by Hamas and Gaza’s health authorities have not been independently verified.

The ceasefire, reached to halt the fighting in Gaza, has been repeatedly strained by accusations from both sides of violations, while negotiations continue over efforts to preserve the truce and advance a broader political settlement.
