Former Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, was met with anti-immigrant chants from a group of South African women as she appeared in court over her ongoing deportation case.

Adetshina was reportedly arrested in Cape Town last month over allegations that she was residing in South Africa illegally. She is currently challenging plans by the country’s Department of Home Affairs to deport her.

On Monday, the beauty queen appeared before the Cape Town Regional Court, where proceedings in the matter were adjourned until August 19.

A video circulating on social media captured a group of women gathered outside the court shouting anti-immigrant remarks at Adetshina. In the footage, they repeatedly urged her to leave South Africa and return to her “home” country.

The video has since generated widespread reactions online, with many social media users expressing concern over the hostile reception and debating the broader issues surrounding immigration and xenophobia in South Africa.

Adetshina’s legal battle continues as the court is expected to resume hearing the case on August 19, when further arguments regarding her challenge to the proposed deportation are expected to be presented.
