Full depravity of Hamas sexual brutality laid bare in damning new report: ‘It was done for fun’

The full scope of Hamas’ sexual depravity was laid bare by a damning new investigation into the terror group’s behavior on Oct. 7 — including harrowing firsthand accounts describing Hamas “animals” laughing with glee as they raped men and women alike, then summarily executed them.

Survivors of the 2023 massacre that left nearly 2,000 dead in Israel described watching people being snatched up by packs of Hamas terrorists, who “celebrated” while stripping women naked and assaulting them as they begged for their lives.

“There was laughter. There were jokes. They were passing them from one to another. It wasn’t — it was done for fun,” one survivor of the massacre at the Nova festival told the Civil Commission on October 7 Crimes by Hamas against Women and Children, an Israeli non-profit that spent two years investigating sexual abuses committed that fateful day.

Hamas terrorists commented on the appearances of women they were taking captive from Israel on Oct. 7.

“They were celebrating there. They were really, really celebrating with this,” the survivor added. “This is not rape as it is usually understood. I don’t know what ‘regular rape’ is, but what was heard there was not that.”

“I heard one rape where they were passing her around. She was probably injured, judging by her screams — screams you have never heard anywhere. It’s between silence and screams, between pain and wanting to die,” the survivor continued. “After one finished, he told another to go up ‘Ta’al’, like, ‘To the next one.’”

“And after they finished, they shot her.”

That was just one of numerous firsthand accounts of Hamas’ atrocities found in the report, which was released Tuesday and described in excruciating detail what was done to innocent civilians at the likes of the Nova festival, across Israeli kibbutzs where families were pulled from bed and raped, and in the tunnels and apartments across Gaza where hostages were terrorized for months.

More than 430 people were interviewed during the investigation and thousands of images were examined, with the report finding widespread weaponization of sexual terror by Hamas. One of the most egregious was an instance of family members being forced to perform sexual acts on each other.

In some disturbing attacks, women were hacked apart with knives while they were being raped — and executed with shots to the head while their attackers were “still inside” them, one witness told the commission.

Women were largely targeted, but men were also subjected to sexual terror.

“We went through abuse of every kind. They spat in our faces, humiliated us, said things about Jews,” one male survivor at Nova said. “They injured my genitalia. I was beaten with a belt, they also laughed at me.”

“One of them took out a knife and started laughing about different things. I told him I was sorry and begged him to leave me alone. I don’t know what they took before they did this, they were like animals,” he said. “There were several of them, and they genuinely enjoyed it. They laughed, they were really pleased, as if I was their sex doll.”

“There were no boundaries. I was completely naked. They did whatever they wanted to me. You feel dirty all the time,” he added. “Today, I shower a thousand times a day, and I still feel disgust and filth. I never returned to myself physically.”

And anybody who tried to fight back was simply killed.

“He saw two Hamas fighters attacking a female victim who they had ‘caught near a car,’” the report said of one witness at Nova. “He stated that she was fighting back and not allowing them to strip her. They threw her on the ground and one of the fighters took a shovel and beheaded her, and her head rolled along the ground.”

Kibbutz homes were found with similar scenes of sexual abuse, with the naked bodies of women — often mutilated, with genitalia burned off, shot, or raped with sharp objects like nails and glass — found discarded about homes and yards.

“When we went inside, there was a hospital bed and a body… I understood that it was a woman,” said one person who searched the Be’eri kibbutz on Oct. 9. “In the room were knives, scalpels, a hammer, an axe, screwdrivers, tools, tools from the household. All of those were embedded in the body. The body was completely mutilated.”

“Female bodies were found naked or partially naked, in some cases with aluminum cans, grenades, nails, blunt objects, rods, household tools and spike-like instruments, inserted into genitals and other parts of the body, as well as with multiple gunshot wounds, cutting injuries and targeted burning in genitalia and breasts, or the face,” the report said.

“Some of these bodies displayed visible signs of torture, including burning, mutilated genitals, breasts and faces,” it continued. “Some of the female bodies that arrived at morgues had broken pelvises and/or legs, bloodied underwear, gunshot wounds to the genitalia and other intimate areas, and other signs of violence to their stomachs or groins.”

And hostages taken into Gaza also endured rape, with women recounting being assaulted by their captors or being threatened with marriage and bearing children for their captors, while men were routinely forced to strip naked and shave all the hair from their bodies.

“In a ‘normal case’ after a sexual assault, you go home. You shower. You cry. But there, you have to… you’re still there,” said Amit Soussana, who was raped by her captor. “You can’t shower. You can’t cry. Crying is forbidden. And, there’s no one to comfort you. You have to face it all alone. And not only that, you also have to be nice to him.”
