FirstBank Agric Expo 2026: The big push to take Nigerian produce global

As Nigeria intensifies efforts to diversify its economy beyond oil, agriculture and non-oil exports are taking on greater importance as engines of economic growth, job creation, food security and foreign-exchange earnings.

Against this backdrop, FirstBank will host the fifth edition of its Agric and Export Expo on September 16 and 17, 2026, under the theme, “From Farm to Global Markets: Building Nigeria’s Export Value Chain.”

The two-day event will bring together policymakers, regulators, agribusiness leaders, exporters, investors and development partners for discussions focused on practical strategies to strengthen Nigeria’s agricultural value chain and expand the country’s access to international markets.

For farmers, agribusinesses and exporters, moving from production to profitable global markets requires more than increased output. It requires access to financing, infrastructure, technology, market intelligence, international standards and supportive policies.

These critical issues will take centre stage at the Expo, which will explore emerging market opportunities, export financing, value addition, technological innovation and policy frameworks that can help Nigerian businesses compete more effectively in the global marketplace.

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, will deliver the keynote address, sharing insights into strategies for boosting agricultural productivity and strengthening Nigeria’s food systems.

The Governor of Niger State, Alhaji Mohammed Umar Bago, will deliver a goodwill message.

The event will also feature insights from prominent players across Nigeria’s agricultural and business sectors, including Olasunkanmi Owoyemi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Sunbeth Global Concepts Limited; Taiwo Ayoade, Deputy Managing Director of Agro Traders Limited and Plantation Industries Limited; Sunil Kumar Chauhan, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Fertiliser Limited; Ayodele Abioye, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BUA Foods Plc; Dr. Agboola Zubayr Belgore, Managing Director of Amo Byng Nigeria Limited; and Amit Bose, Chief Financial Officer of Valency Agro Nigeria.

Now in its fifth year, the FirstBank Agric and Export Expo has evolved into a significant platform for collaboration, innovation and investment across Nigeria’s agriculture and export ecosystem.

The conference will examine emerging market opportunities, export financing, value addition, technological innovation and policy frameworks capable of helping Nigerian businesses unlock greater value from agricultural production and compete in international markets.

Beyond the panel discussions and presentations, the Expo offers farmers, exporters, agribusiness owners, investors and entrepreneurs an opportunity to gain practical insights, connect with industry leaders, forge strategic partnerships and discover new avenues for growth.

As Nigeria seeks to transform its agricultural potential into greater economic value and stronger export earnings, building an efficient value chain from production to international markets will require deeper collaboration among government, financial institutions, businesses and other stakeholders.

The FirstBank Agric and Export Expo 2026 provides an important platform for that conversation, bringing together the people and institutions positioned to shape the future of Nigeria’s agricultural and export economy.
