Fire Reported On Board Navy Destroyer USS Higgins, Third Such Incident On US Warship Since Iran War
A fire broke out earlier this week aboard the USS Higgins (DDG-76), a guided-missile destroyer deployed in the Pacific, knocking out the ship’s electricity and propulsion systems, ThePress Nigeria reports, citing US officials. No injuries were reported as of Wednesday, but officials have not yet confirmed what caused the fire, where exactly the ship was operating within the United States Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM), or how badly it was damaged. It is also unclear how long repairs could take.
