FCT police command dismisses viral reports claiming it is aware of a kidney-harvesting syndicate in Abuja
The FCT Police Command says it is aware of publications circulating on social media alleging that the Command has confirmed reports that young people residing around Nyanya area of the FCT have sold their kidneys for money, and that an agent in Mararaba is purchasing human kidneys.
In a statement released this morning, the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, stated categorically that it has neither received nor confirmed any report of such nature, and no statement or communication to that effect has emanated from the Command.
The command urged members of the public to disregard the said publication and refrain from circulating unverified information capable of causing unnecessary fear, panic and apprehension among residents.
The Command, however, encouraged anyone with information regarding the alleged human organ trafficking, or any other security concern within the FCT, to promptly report same to the nearest Police Station or contact the FCT Police Command via: 07038979348, 08028940883.
