Favour’s Parents Knew The Girl Was Raped And They Didn’t Report To The Hospital Or Police -Ossai

Ovie Success Ossai, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, has criticised the parents of the late Favour over how they reportedly handled the events that followed her alleged rape by a content creator popularly known as the Odogwu of Asaba.

In a statement on his X account on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Ossai said the family failed to take the necessary steps after the incident, arguing that the victim should have received immediate medical attention and legal support instead of being sent home.

According to him, Favour contacted her mother after the alleged assault.

“According to the video she made before passing away, her parents knew the girl was raped, and they did not report to the hospital or the police for proper documentation and possible therapy to help her heal from the trauma,” Ossai said.

However, rather than taking her to a hospital or reporting the matter to the police, her mother allegedly sent her transport fare to return to Warri.

Ossai argued that the decision may have affected efforts to gather crucial medical evidence and denied the young woman access to counselling and other forms of support that could have helped her after the traumatic experience.

He also expressed concern that some parents often focus on blaming victims for meeting people in hotels instead of prioritising their safety and seeking justice.

He maintained that remaining silent after sexual assault only protects offenders and makes it more difficult for victims to recover.

The governor’s aide vowed to continue pushing for justice, insisting that the suspect should face the full weight of the law if found guilty.

Ossai added that he would continue to speak on the case and share more information about the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the roles played by other individuals connected to the matter.

Meanwhile, police have confirmed the arrest of the content creator known as the Odogwu of Asaba as investigations into the allegations continue.
