Coco Gauff’s mother has fans of her own! Over the past few days, social media users have rallied around the tennis star’s mom after she told friends and family to stop asking for guest tickets to see Coco play at the US Open. On Friday, Coco addressed her mother’s bold message, revealing that as her star has risen, so have requests from family and friends asking her for favors.

On Thursday, August 27, Coco’s mom, Candi, shared a blunt message online, telling her followers to “stop” asking her for free tickets to see Coco live and in action. “Dear Family and friends, I apologize in advance for this blunt, but necessary statement,” she wrote. I know you are very excited about Coco playing in the US Open. Me too!!! Coco’s guest ticket request have already been accounted for.”

Continuing, Candi said she would “not be able to hook” anybody up with a ticket this year before telling them to “make arrangements to purchase a ticket.” Elsewhere in her post, she gave clear instructions for the future, which stated to “never ask for more than 2 tickets.”

Candi went on to explain that things have changed a lot over the years. “Coco is grown now, and she has her own friends that she is honoring tickets for the match,” she said. “Thank you for your continued support.”

More than 600 people have commented on Candi’s post, and from the looks of it, many agree with her bold and blunt statement.

“Say it louder for the people in the back,” someone wrote, while another said, “I wish captions could be retweeted.”

A third user wrote, “Iconic,” and a fourth shared, “We running a strict program over here.”

On Reddit, Candi’s post got a similar reaction, considering one person said her announcement was a “hall of fame ‘mom post.’”

Coco Gauff Says Her Mom’s Post ‘Was Needed’ As Her Star Gets Brighter

On Friday, Coco spoke with the media about her mother’s “needed” post and said the requests from some friends and family have gotten out of control.

“Honestly, it was needed, and it was directed towards a few family and friends,” Coco said, according to AP News. “People come out of the woodwork. You haven’t spoken to someone for years. They don’t say, ‘Congrats’ or, ‘Happy birthday’ or nothing. Then they’re like, ‘Oh, I’m in New York, can I have 8 tickets to your match in your box, please?”

Coco’s Parents Have Been Vocal Supporters Of The Tennis Star

Back in 2025, Coco’s dad, Corey, spoke with Craig Melvin on “Today” and opened up about his normal routine of wearing headphones during the tennis star’s matches.

“I might be listening to gospel music, hype music, just trying to take my mind mentally off of the moment, ‘cause then I get nervous and I feel like she might feel my nervousness,” he said.

Coco Told Her Dad He Shouldn’t Be In Her Box During Matches

In addition to listening to music, Corey also paces the stands during his daughter’s matches—something Coco said is for the best.

“So after Wimbledon I lost first round [in 2023] and was like, ‘Okay dad, we both agreed that you shouldn’t sit in the box. We can go at it, because I just can’t with the reactions,’” she said. “He is a kind of superstitious guy so he was like, ‘Okay, whatever!’”
