#EkitiDecides: INEC uploads 13.82% of governorship results on IReV portal

By Kazeem Ugbodaga

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded 338 polling-unit results to its Results Viewing (IReV) portal in the ongoing Ekiti State governorship election, representing 13.82 per cent of the expected 2,445 polling-unit results across the state.

Data obtained from the portal on Saturday showed that the latest upload was recorded at 4:21 p.m. from Polling Unit 013 in Registration Area 11 of Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area, indicating that result transmission was continuing as collation progressed statewide.

The uploaded results span all 16 local government areas of Ekiti State, with varying levels of compliance in the electronic transmission process.

Ado-Ekiti Local Government Area accounted for the highest number of uploads, with 67 polling-unit results already available on the portal out of its 344 polling units.

Ekiti South-West followed with 38 uploaded results from 188 polling units, while Ikole and Oye local government areas recorded 31 and 30 uploads respectively.

Other local governments showing notable levels of uploads include Ekiti West with 23 results, Ijero and Ido/Osi with 19 each, Efon with 18, and Ikere and Gbonyin with 17 results each.

Ise/Orun had uploaded 12 results, Irepodun/Ifelodun 11, Ilejemeje 10 and Emure six.

At the lower end of the scale, Ekiti East had uploaded only two polling-unit results, while Moba recorded just one upload despite having 112 and 116 polling units respectively.

The gradual upload of results comes as political parties, election observers and voters closely monitor the IReV portal, which was introduced by INEC to improve transparency and public confidence in the electoral process through real-time access to polling-unit results.

With less than one-sixth of expected results uploaded at the time of reporting, the election remains in its early collation stage, and no meaningful statewide voting pattern can yet be established from the available data.

Attention is expected to remain focused on the portal in the coming hours as more polling-unit results are transmitted and uploaded from across the state’s 16 local government areas.

INEC remains the only authority empowered by law to collate and officially declare the outcome of the governorship election.
