Ekiti 2026: Oyebanji Records Massive Victory In Bamidele’s Polling Unit

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2026 Ekiti governorship election, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, on Saturday, defeated other contestants in the polling unit of the Leader of the Senate, Opeyemi Bamidele.

According to results declared on Saturday by the Polling Officer, Ms Elizabeth Oregbemeh, Oyebanji polled 164 votes while his closest rival and the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wole Oluyede, scored only eight votes.

According to the polling officer, the governorship candidate of Action Democratic Party (ADP), Ayodeji Ojo, came a distant third with one vote.

Earlier, Governor Oyebanji expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the ongoing governorship election in the state, saying the exercise has remained peaceful while voter turnout has been encouraging across many communities.

Naija News reports that the governor spoke on Saturday after casting his vote alongside his wife at Polling Unit 003 in Oyebanji’s Compound, RA 06, located in Ekiti West Local Government Area.

He said reports reaching him from different parts of the state showed that the election was progressing smoothly and that many residents responded positively to calls to participate in the voting process.

Although some polling units experienced technical problems during the accreditation process, Oyebanji urged residents not to panic.

Reports from some areas indicated that electronic voter verification devices encountered difficulties in capturing the details of certain voters, causing delays in the early hours of voting.

Reacting to the situation, the governor appealed to voters to remain calm and patient.
