The inauguration took place on Friday, August 21, 2026, with the Chairman, charging members of the Committee to demonstrate greater commitment, dedication and determination in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Muhuyi Magaji reminded the Sub-Committees’ members of the “enormity of the task before you people. The success of the Task Force would depend, largely, on the seriousness and commitment with which this Committee approaches its assignment.”

He urged members to redouble their efforts, “work collectively and remain focused on the objectives of the Task Force.”

According to him, “this Sub- Committees, and others, within us, are established to provide more coordinated and specialised approach to tackling the various dimensions of drug abuse and peddling in our society.”

Muhuyi urged relevant stakeholders to work together, “towards achieving lasting results.

” The nine committee inaugurated covers Finance, Media and Publicity; Advocacy and Sensitisation; Licences, Inventory and Verification; Compliance, Inspection and Electronic Tracking; Monitoring and Implementation; Intelligence; Reformative and Traditional Council; and Anti-Drug Coordination Committee.”

A Statement by the Chief of the Media and Publicity of the Task Force, Mr. Lamara Garba, indicated that: “The structure also provides for coordinated responsibilities across the various areas of intervention.

” The Chairman urged the members to see their appointments as a call to service rather than merely an assignment, stressing that the responsibilities placed before them demand discipline, professionalism and a strong commitment to the collective interest.

“He further encouraged the committees to maintain effective collaboration and ensure that their activities translate into concrete results in the ongoing campaign against drug abuse and trafficking.

” The inauguration marks another step in the efforts of the Multi-Agency Task Force to strengthen institutional coordination and broaden the response to drug related challenges, with the committees expected to contribute their expertise towards building a more effective and sustainable anti-drug campaign.”
