Conditions To Open Hormuz—Iran to waive Hormuz fees during 60-day ceasefire, but says ships must submit transit requests

According to a report by The Times of Israel on Friday, June 19, 2026, as part of a 60-day negotiating period under a memorandum of understanding struck with the US this week, Iran has stated that it will not impose taxes on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) of Iran made the announcement, explaining that the action is short-term and is related to the existing interim agreement between Iran and the United States.

One of the world’s most strategically important maritime passageways, the Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf to the open ocean and is a crucial worldwide shipping route.

Ships wishing to use the strait for passage within the 60-day period must submit their transit requests at least 48 hours before to arrival, as per the terms stated in a notice published by the authorities.......>>
