Celebrities alone cannot save Nigeria – Peter Okoye speaks amid backlash

Nigerian afrobeats singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has spoken up regarding th backlash directed at Nigerian celebrities amid the rise in violent attacks in the country.

The singer, during an interview with Wazobia FM, stated that celebrities do not have the capacity to fix Nigeria’s problems alone. He added that meaningful change will require the effort of all Nigerians, not just public figures.

“I apologise for saying I won’t concern myself with Nigeria’s challenges anymore. I may have security agencies guiding me but not everyone can afford it. This is our country, it is only us who can bring positive changes. However, celebrities alone can’t save Nigeria. All those clamouring for celebrities to speak up against bad governance should redirect their energy. It is not a matter of celebrities. But together, we can bring the desired change,” he stated.
