Bwala Blames Governors for Rising Kidnapping Cases Across Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has said that state governors should be held accountable for the rising wave of kidn@ppings across Nigeria.

According to Bwala, governors ought to bear responsibility for every kidn@pping incident that occurs within their states.

Speaking during an interview on a television programme, he argued that the lack of safety at the grassroots level points to deeper problems in how leaders are governing and how funds meant for community development and security are being managed.

“Every time someone is kidn@pped or taken against their will in any part of Nigeria, the governor of that state should be held responsible.

And I will say, and I want it to be the memorable word.

Every local government area, all the kidn@ppings have happened in local government areas,” he said.

Bwala also questioned how funds allocated to the Safe School Initiative had been utilised, noting that the programme was designed to make schools safer.

“There was a program called the Safe School Initiative that began, and money was given to states to build fences around schools, set up early science warnings, and carry out all those safety checks,” he explained.

He further challenged Nigerians to demand accountability from their state leaders, stating: “Ask your governor where that money was spent.”
