According to a report by Daily Post on Monday, May 25, 2026, media aide to former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, Tever Akase, on Monday publicly accused Governor Hyacinth Alia of making false statements about his principal’s administration.

He maintained that recent comments attributed to the current governor were misleading and did not reflect the actual record of governance under Ortom.

Akase stated that during Ortom’s eight-year tenure, which covers a total of 96 months, the former governor successfully ensured salary payments to civil servants for 91 months.

According to him, this record demonstrates a substantial level of consistency in meeting workers’ wage obligations despite the financial challenges faced during the period.

He made these remarks while appearing on Arise Television’s Morning Show, where he responded to questions surrounding claims made about salary arrears and the handling of workers’ welfare under the previous administration.

The discussion focused on issues of salary payments and the interpretation of figures being circulated in public discourse.

During the programme, Akase questioned the narrative suggesting that five months of unpaid salaries under Ortom’s administration had been extended or misrepresented as a much longer period.

He expressed concern over how the five-month figure being referenced had been stretched or interpreted to imply a duration of four years in some accounts.

He further called on the current state leadership to maintain transparency and provide clear explanations regarding financial inflows and allocations received by the state.
