BREAKING: Tinubu, Atiku Attend Eid Prayers Amid Nationwide Celebrations

According to a report by The Punch on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, President Bola Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Wednesday joined millions of Muslim faithful across the country to observe the Eid-el-Kabir prayers.

The two political leaders observed their prayers in Lagos and Abuja, respectively, while urging citizens to embrace peace and national unity.

In Lagos, President Tinubu observed his Eid prayers at the historic Dodan Barracks praying ground. The President was accompanied by a high-powered entourage, including his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

Other prominent politicians spotted with the President included former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, and the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat.

The presidency confirmed the development via social media, sharing photos of the President interacting with other worshippers.

Meanwhile, in the Federal Capital Territory, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, performed his religious rites at the AYA Mosque in Abuja.

Following the prayers, Atiku released a statement calling for compassion, sacrifice, and mutual understanding among Nigerians, regardless of their political or religious differences.

“As we celebrate this sacred occasion, may the spirit of Eid strengthen our bonds of unity, compassion, sacrifice, and peace as one people and one nation,” Atiku stated.

He further extended his warm greetings to Muslims across Nigeria and globally, praying for lasting peace and economic prosperity for the country.
