BREAKING: Oyo: From Where I Was Hiding, I Saw Bandits Assembling My Child Together With Other Children – Mother

According to a report by Punch Newspaper on Sunday, May 31, 2026, an emotive account of the incident was given by the mother of one of the pupils seized during the raid on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. She asked authorities to urgently attend to the plight of the kidnapped children.

Since she was there to see portions of the attack firsthand, she found the whole ordeal quite upsetting.

The mother said that the morning of the event, she had gotten her child ready for school.

The woman recounted how she was in the middle of preparing a meal when masked guys barged into the neighbourhood, causing havoc and panic among the locals as shots rang out.

Her story goes like this: she had no choice but to hide while the assailants made their way across the neighbourhood, and the unexpected invasion made her run for cover.

As the armed men made their way around the town, she saw from her hidden spot how things were developing.

She went on to say that she witnessed the kidnappers round up a number of students while she was in hiding.

According to her, the youngsters were being herded by armed men in groups, and she recognised her own child among them.

The mother went on to say that she is still struggling emotionally from the ordeal and the constant fear for her child’s safety.

She expressed even more concern for the welfare of the other students and instructors who are still kept captive after the incident because her child is one of them.

She went on to describe her past, saying that she had moved to Nigeria for a better chance at life.

She explained that since her husband passed away, she has been left to fend for her family, and that given the current circumstances, they are dependent on her trading activities.

She said, “I hid myself and from where I was hiding, I saw them assembling my child together with other children.”
