Samaila Kaigama, President of the Borno South Youth Alliance, has recounted a harrowing moment during negotiations over the abduction of pupils and other victims from Oriire in Oyo State, alleging that the kidnappers threatened to kill several women and children because they believed the government was not responding quickly enough.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Tuesday, 21 July, 2026, Kaigama described his involvement in the negotiations surrounding the Oriire school abduction.

He claimed that the abductors contacted him through a video call and displayed a group of women and children whom they threatened to execute if their demands were not addressed.
