According to a report by Punch on Friday, May 22, 2026, the legal adviser to Senator Ned Nwoko, Chris Okobah, has rejected the outcome of the All Progressives Congress senatorial primary election held in Delta State, insisting that the process did not reflect the actual result of the contest.

His position comes amid disagreements over the official declaration of results from the Delta North senatorial primary, which has continued to generate differing accounts from political stakeholders involved in the exercise.

The primary election, conducted under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, All Progressives Congress, was earlier declared in favour of former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

According to the announced results, Okowa was said to have secured 113,309 votes, defeating his closest rivals, Senator Ned Nwoko and another aspirant, Maryam Ali, who reportedly scored 2,612 votes and 40 votes respectively.

The declaration placed Okowa ahead in the contest and positioned him as the party’s flag bearer for the senatorial seat.

However, Senator Ned Nwoko rejected the outcome of the primary, raising concerns over what he described as irregularities and inconsistencies in the conduct of the election.

He maintained that the process did not follow proper procedure and that the figures announced did not reflect what transpired during the voting exercise.

His camp argued that the electoral process should be subjected to further review in order to verify the authenticity of the results and ensure fairness to all participants.

Speaking during a press briefing in Abuja, Chris Okobah provided a contrasting account of the election results, stating that their internal records showed a different outcome.

He explained that based on documentation and field reports obtained by the senator’s campaign team, Senator Ned Nwoko emerged as the clear winner of the primary election.

He stated that the data available to them indicated a significantly higher level of support for Nwoko compared to what was officially announced.

He said, “From our records, Senator Ned Nwoko won overwhelmingly with 123,000 votes, while Dr Ifeanyi Okowa secured only about 5,000 votes. We make this statement confidently because we have evidence from the field.”
