BREAKING: Igboho’s proposed 50,000-strong militia draws criticism from security analyst

A security expert has dismissed Sunday Igboho’s proposal for a regional militia. Dr.

Jackson Lekan-Ojo says the Yoruba Nation agitator lacks the credentials to manage such a force.

Igboho wants to establish a 50,000-member security outfit called “Iru Ekun.” He’s seeking presidential approval to deploy the group against criminals in Yoruba-speaking areas.

Lekan-Ojo spoke to reporters in Abuja on Wednesday. He questioned whether Igboho possessed the necessary training and maturity for the role.

“It won’t work because of how Igboho has approached it,” the expert told journalists. “He’s an agitator for Oduduwa Republic.

His outspokenness means people won’t take him seriously.”

According to him, merely getting the president’s blessing isn’t sufficient. The proposal needs scrutiny from the National Assembly and the Defence Ministry, he argued.

Lekan-Ojo also raised concerns about practical implementation. He questioned what weapons 50,000 soldiers would carry and who would train them properly.

“Dane guns won’t match AK-47s and sophisticated weapons,” the security expert noted. “Will people sabotage the effort?

Might they use it to boost the president’s re-election?”

He stressed that regional security networks demand professionals with genuine expertise. Former agitators aren’t suitable candidates for such positions, Lekan-Ojo insisted.

“An ex-agitator cares more about regional independence than national security,” he explained. “Igboho simply doesn’t have the training or judgment required.”

Lekan-Ojo recommended a different approach for President Tinubu. He urged the government to overhaul Nigeria’s entire security framework instead.

“Restructure the system so it works nationwide,” the expert advised. “Don’t rely on regional strongmen with questionable motives.”
