BREAKING: If INEC Does Not Then Upload Those Who Emerged On Their Portal Then We’ll Go To Court — Kachikwu

ADC presidential candidate Dumebi Kachikwu has threatened legal action against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), insisting the electoral body must recognize candidates produced by his faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or risk contempt proceedings. Speaking during a television interview with Channels TV amid ongoing leadership disputes within the party, Kachikwu declared, “If INEC does not then upload those who emerged on their portal then we will go to court and get the INEC chairman charged for contempt.”

The comment came as Kachikwu defended the legitimacy of his emergence as ADC presidential candidate and argued that his faction had acted in line with existing court judgments and the party’s constitutional provisions. He rejected suggestions that the faction led by David Mark remained the officially recognized leadership of the party, despite the leadership structure displayed on INEC’s portal.

According to Kachikwu, state chairmen loyal to his camp are those recognized by INEC across various state chapters and were responsible for organizing congresses and the convention that produced candidates. He maintained that a court order clearly empowered only state chairmen to conduct congresses and conventions.

He further argued that once INEC recognized and uploaded officials who emerged from previous congresses conducted by his faction, the commission would be expected to similarly upload outcomes from the convention. Failure to do so, he said, would amount to a violation of a valid court order.
