Human rights activist, Ann-Kio Briggs, has expressed concern over the appearance of PDP leader Kingsley Chinda before an All Progressives Congress (APC) screening panel.

Speaking in an interview with CHANNELS TV on Thursday, May 21, 2026, Briggs questioned the rationale behind a senior member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking a ticket under the APC platform.

She described the development as unusual and troubling, noting that it raises broader questions about the independence and integrity of Nigeria’s political parties.

Briggs further stated that, in her experience, it is rare to see a situation where an individual appears to exert influence or participate across multiple political parties simultaneously.

Her words,

“Why should Chinda who is in PDP now be contending on an APC platform? Jinda bought ticket on APC. He didn’t buy it on PDP. So, if he’s contending with the governor on APC, we are right to assume that there is something fundamentally and critically wrong with what APC is doing.”
