BREAKING: Chelsea Defender Wants To Join Arsenal This Summer

According to a report by Football London on Sunday, July 5, 2026, Chelsea defender Josh Acheampong has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Arsenal, with suggestions that the young centre-back could be open to a move despite Chelsea’s determination to keep him.

The 20-year-old is regarded as one of the Blues’ brightest academy graduates and has established himself in the first team with a series of composed and consistent performances. After making around 30 senior appearances last season, Acheampong strengthened his reputation as a versatile defender capable of playing in several positions across the back line.Favor And Life Battles? Chelsea are said to have no intention of selling the defender, viewing him as an important part of the club’s long-term plans. Despite reported interest from Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich, the Stamford Bridge hierarchy remain determined to retain one of their most highly rated young players.

However, reports claim Acheampong is considering the possibility of a new challenge ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. Arsenal are believed to be keen on signing the defender as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his defensive options, particularly with William Saliba expected to miss the start of the season through injury.

Acheampong’s composure in possession, tactical intelligence, and ability to operate in multiple defensive roles have made him an attractive option for Arsenal’s recruitment team, who are continuing to monitor his situation.

Although no official offer has been made, discussions are reportedly taking place between interested clubs and the player’s representatives as they assess the possibility of a transfer.

For now, Chelsea remain confident that Acheampong will stay at Stamford Bridge and continue his development with the club. Nevertheless, with Arsenal’s interest growing and the player reportedly open to a move, the situation could evolve if the Gunners decide to submit a formal bid before the transfer window closes.
