BREAKING: Atiku Emerges ADC Presidential Candidate in Ebonyi

According to a report by Daily Post, on Tuesday May 26, 2026, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar recorded a convincing victory in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary election held in Ebonyi State, defeating his closest challengers by a wide margin.

The primary election results were officially announced at Preston Hotel, which served as the state collation centre for the exercise. Figures released by the Ebonyi State Presidential Primary Election Committee showed that Atiku emerged with 15,300 votes to secure first place in the contest.

Former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi came second after polling 2,200 votes, while Muhammad Hayatudeen received 200 votes.

Details from the committee revealed that 18,891 registered voters were expected to participate in the exercise across the state’s 171 wards located within 13 local government areas. Out of that number, 17,700 voters were successfully accredited to take part in the primary process.

The Chairman of the committee and ADC National Vice Chairman (Diaspora), Fred Onwe, officially declared Atiku winner of the primary after confirming that he secured the highest number of valid votes cast during the exercise.

Meanwhile, the party’s State Chairman, Silas Joseph Onu, praised electoral officials and returning officers for their commitment throughout the process. He noted that despite the heavy rainfall experienced across various parts of the state, officials remained dedicated to ensuring the smooth conduct of the exercise.

Onwe also extended congratulations to Atiku and other contestants, applauding them for maintaining patience and displaying sportsmanship throughout the primary election process.
