BREAKING: Atiku Delivers Massive ADC Primary Win Across 24 States

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has taken a commanding lead in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary, polling more than 1.4 million votes across 24 states and the Federal Capital Territory to establish a wide margin over his closest challengers, Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.

The presidential contest, which began as a three-way race, increasingly turned into a dominant showing for Atiku as state-by-state results declared at the party’s national collation centre in Abuja placed him firmly ahead of the field.

Collation of results was, however, suspended late Tuesday night by the Chairman of the Presidential Primary Election Committee, Ikechi Emenike, who cited Eid-el-Kabir celebrations and logistical challenges affecting some returning officers.

“Collation for the remaining states will resume by 8 p.m. tomorrow. Some returning officers experienced flight disruptions getting to Abuja,” Emenike announced.

Before the adjournment, results from 24 states and the FCT had been declared, leaving 12 states yet to be announced. The figures showed Atiku dominating major voting blocs, particularly across northern states critical to the party’s delegate strength.

Adamawa delivered Atiku’s biggest return, with the former vice president polling 177,141 votes, far ahead of Amaechi’s 1,896 votes and Hayatu-Deen’s 18,949 votes. He also secured a strong lead in Kano with 155,595 votes, while Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen recorded 9,994 and 15,914 votes respectively.

In Gombe, Atiku widened the gap further, polling 136,933 votes against Amaechi’s 1,140 and Hayatu-Deen’s 455. He also posted commanding victories in Borno, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kogi and several other declared states.

Amaechi recorded some of his stronger outings in Benue, Taraba and Kogi, while Hayatu-Deen’s notable performances came from states such as Benue, Adamawa and Kano. However, neither candidate managed to significantly dent Atiku’s growing advantage.

Running totals from the declared states placed Atiku at 1,432,275 votes, comfortably ahead of Amaechi’s 246,455 votes and Hayatu-Deen’s 135,375 votes.
