Breaking: Amotekun operatives rescue kidnapped Fulani herders

Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, have rescued two young Fulani herders who were abducted while grazing cattle in a forest along the Ondo–Edo State boundary.

The victims were reportedly kidnapped in the Owo forest area after they failed to return home, raising concerns among their families and prompting a search operation.

Following a distress call from the victims’ parents, Amotekun operatives launched a rescue mission in collaboration with the families, eventually tracing the kidnappers’ hideout deep inside the forest.

The Ondo State Commander of Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, said the kidnappers abandoned the victims and fled after realising that their camp had been uncovered.

Adeleye said the two herders were found alive and rescued without harm.

The rescue operation comes amid continued concerns over kidnapping activities in forests across parts of the country, with security agencies facing pressure to dismantle criminal hideouts and protect residents.

Amotekun, which operates as a regional security outfit in the South-West, has been involved in several operations targeting kidnappers, bandits and other criminal elements across the region.
