According to a report by Daily Trust on Friday, May 29, 2026, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has declared that his party, the Allied People’s Movement (APM), will not engage in election malpractice and will also resist any attempt to be cheated in the 2027 general elections.

Mohammed made the remarks at the Bauchi Government House during the affirmation of candidates for elective offices in the state, where the party unveiled its governorship and deputy governorship candidates. He said the APM was entering the 2027 elections prepared for a keen political contest and would not underestimate any opponent.

“If we win, we will accept it. If we lose, we will accept it, especially where there is transparency, justice and equity. That is democracy,” he stated.

The governor said the party would return to the electorate to campaign on its record and achievements, while maintaining a commitment to democratic principles. He also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to ensure a transparent and credible electoral process, stressing that democracy can only flourish where fairness and justice prevail.

Mohammed further urged party members to remain united and committed ahead of the elections. In a post on his X account, he confirmed the emergence of Yakubu Adamu, the state commissioner for finance, as the APM governorship candidate, with Mahmood Abubakar as his running mate.

The governor, who recently defected to the APM, also expressed appreciation to party stakeholders for endorsing him as the party’s senatorial candidate for Bauchi South, describing the development as a step towards strengthening party unity and expanding its support base ahead of the 2027 polls.
